I realise that title makes this sound like an incredibly philosophical evolutionary post but, don’t worry, it’s not. Instead, I wanted to talk about how we got, quite literally, here. This little corner of the internet. You may have started to notice (after a whole week of this blog being live!) that my posting days are Tuesdays and Fridays. I’ve reserved Sundays for, slightly more ad hoc, soul Sunday posts to explore more lifey matters because there’s nothing like feeling lifey on a Sunday morning. So, back to the point. How did we get here?
I talked a bit about why I started this space over on my about page but wanted to go into a bit more detail and really introduce me – who I am and how I got to Life Unedited!
Once upon a time I had another blog called Cherries & Chisme. I started C&C just after I graduated from university. After a tumultuous relationship with food throughout my teens and early twenties I felt a need to have a dedicated space to explore that and connect with others who had similar experiences. Shortly after, I moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina for 6 months to learn Spanish whilst working as an intern for a CSR organisation, and I documented my adventures on my blog. As my life evolved so too did Cherries & Chisme. It got to the point, however, where it didn’t really quite feel like the right fit for where I was at and my desire to write and share my thoughts dwindled somewhat.
I was very aware that I could just rebrand and steer my site in a different direction. But I felt as though I needed a fresh start and, given recent events in my life, I am glad that I chose that path – a new chapter was just what I needed.
So, what to do instead? I put a great deal of time and effort into considering where I wanted to go next with my writing. I love communicating with others through this medium and knew that that was something I wanted to continue with.
So, welcome to life unedited.
I’ve been toying with the idea of this space for a fair amount of time now, going back and forth with friends and family as to what I wanted out of it, what it should mean and, ultimately, what it should represent. In the end, I realised that the best thing – as always – was to go for what came naturally, and that was to share all the ins and outs of life itself. The sheer joy of adventures and discovering places anew, the smaller struggles of the everyday, the quiet moments which somehow seem to have so much meaning, and stories of others that bring new perspective.
Welcome to life in all its forms.
So who is this person, the person behind these pages? I’ve always been a people watcher, observing the comings and goings of those who pass by, and noticing the random little things. I’m a thinker – sometimes too much so – and can be counted on to over analyse every single thing possible, perhaps not my most positive trait but at times useful nonetheless. Though, when it comes down to it, I’m most likely to impulsively go with my gut on the big decisions because that’s when the best adventures happen.
I have an intense personality at times – I feel things deeply and fully, and I’m a strong believer in living life with all your being. Even the darkest of moments help the light shine brighter. I am fascinated by the process of crafting the life you love, I love to hear people’s stories and see what I can learn from them because life is itself a process and we are ever its students. I believe in generating an appreciation for what we have in this present moment, and feeling gratitude for what we may take for granted. And finally, one of my favourite moments is the feeling of a seed of inspiration being planted – and that is the goal of Life Unedited, to help you plant those seeds. So, enjoy my friends and let’s start this journey!
